The article examines the political, economic and social conditions of Haiti to determine its climate for investment and trade. It discusses the laws that illustrate Haiti's openness to foreign investment. It outlines the areas of Haitian law that suffer from weaknesses, including the operation of the judicial system, land tenure and real property law, and customs law.
